Recommended Systems for Students

Students who will be living on campus and desire a network connection must meet the ITU minimum hardware configurations. Information is available from the ITU Computer Purchasing FAQ for Students. However, it is important to note that the ITU recommendations are minimum requirements. Individual department requirements may exceed these minimum standards. While we attempt to maintain an updated list of recommendations (available at the store), students should check the requirements of their particular departments and use the higher standard when making purchasing decisions. Further, while there are currently no mandatory requirements for computer ownership at the undergraduate level, it is strongly recommended by several departments. Again, direct communication with the department will clarify this issue.

Recommended Systems for Departments

This information applies to departments purchasing systems for the university's use. ITU has developed standards for systems and a list of supported equipment. Please see the ITU Computer Purchasing Guidelines for Mason Departments regarding specific recommendations. You are encouraged to use this information when making a purchase decision.
